I don't like Obama. Yeah, I said it.
I really don't. When I look at Obama and what precious little there is of his record, I see a man who will be the first black President in the same fashion that Colin Powell was the first black Secretary of State, and that Alberto Gonzales was the first hispanic Attorney General.
Although he has managed to mold himself into a black man that white people of all backgrounds and beliefs can find completely non-threatening, which is quite an accomplishment, so kudos for that. I'm similarly irritated when I listen to Obama speak and think that it's all well and good, but I really enjoyed it much more when Martin Luther King, Jr. did it, and there was actually substance behind the compelling mode of speaking. The fact that Obama couldn't carry King's jock adds insult.
In the same vein, I'm equally irritated with "progressives" who are proud of themselves for backing a Serious Black Candidate(tm) because they've, well, finally found one who is completely non-threatening. Yeah, this is progress.
